Calories Burned Calculator: The Complete Guide

See how many calories an activity burns. Pick your exercise, enter your body weight and how long you did it, and get an estimate based on standard MET (metabolic equivalent) values.

Who the Calories Burned Calculator is for

People tracking workouts who want to estimate the energy a session burned.

How to use the Calories Burned Calculator

How it works

Calories burned = MET × 3.5 × weight(kg) ÷ 200 × minutes. MET (metabolic equivalent) values rate how intense an activity is relative to sitting still — running is about 9.8, brisk walking about 3.5.

What is a MET?

A MET, or metabolic equivalent, expresses an activity's intensity relative to rest: 1 MET is sitting quietly, 4 METs burns four times as much. Multiplying METs by body weight and time gives a solid calorie estimate, though real burn varies with pace, fitness, terrain, and individual metabolism.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does body weight change the result?

Heavier bodies use more energy to perform the same movement, so calories burned scale with weight as well as intensity and time.

How accurate is this?

MET-based estimates are a good ballpark but not exact — your actual burn depends on effort, efficiency, and conditions a formula can't capture.

Is this calculator free and private?

Yes. It's completely free with no signup, and every calculation runs locally in your browser, so your numbers never leave your device.
